Green Energy Award for Pakistani company

Agha Khan Planning and Building service wins the green energy award at Ashden
Awards for the Sustainable Energy 2011 at London. This award was initiated in
2001 and the prize money this year was $32,200 for the winners.

Agha Khan Services is among the four international winners at the Ashden awards
for sustainable energy 2011. Agha Khan Services help the families in the mountain
villages to save energy. It fits energy saving devices in the homes. This service also
encourages the greater use of local clean energy. It also provides fuel efficient stoves,
water heater, and wall and floor insulation for the villagers.

Winning an international award by a Pakistani firm shows that Pakistan has a brilliant
prospect in the sustainable energy. We need to be heading towards energy
self-sufficiency and local firms in the sustainable energy can ease our way.
Local firms can utilize local resources efficiently and can divert the energy
production equilibrium in favour of sustainable energy.
