Hope for New Era in Pakistan-Bangladesh Ties

Last Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran called premier of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wajid. This was a positive development after decision of setting up courts by Bangladesh to look into the war crimes committed in 1971 war. Prime Minister said, it is a time to look into future now and build better relationship between two states. He also desired to revive SAARC as a effective regional organization and using it to build peace and prosperity in the region.

Amid severe criticism on India's attitude in the region, from many neighbors in addition to Pakistan like Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Imran Khan invited Sheikh Hasina Wajid to visit Pakistan, and speak about Kashmir issue and India's humanitarian crime inside Kashmir valley. He also expressed his grief over deaths in Bangladesh due to CoVid-19 pandemic  and floods.

This may lead to new ties between the two nations. Though bitter history between the two nations, current political scenario in the region has given chance to both states to develop new political, economic and cultural ties.
