Letter from India: Thanks to Pakistan

Ten months back 22 sailors were held captive by Somali pirates. Captives included 4 Pakistanis, 6 Indians, 11 Egyptians and one Sri Lankan. Pakistani Human Rights activist Ansar Burney, raised the ransom amount to free the Pakistani sailors and a Captain. He also raised the money to get free the Indian sailors and other captives.

The Pakistani Government also deserves praise for its cooperation in the cause of humanity. The Indian sailors' families are truly happy. The encouraging and constructive attitude of Ansar Burney and others from the Pakistani Government will go a long way in establishing confidence between the two neighbors and hopefully eventually will result in the peaceful relations.

Today 24th June, all the captives reached Karachi after a long captivity of about 10 months. There was a warm gathering in Karachi on the arrival of the captives. Captain Wasi praised the efforts of Ansar Burney and Pakistani media in this noble cause. Captives belonging to other nationalities were also very emotional at this occasion.
